• First of all, what is downloading?

In this instance downloading is something whereby you buy a piece of music of an established site like www.woolworths.co.uk, www.tescodownloads.co.uk or www.itunes.co.uk to play on your computer. It is generally much cheaper to buy it on your computer rather than in the shop.

• OK, so how do I do it?

Well first of all you need a computer with an internet connection. Once you have these things downloading is as easy as making a cup of tea, and takes about the same amount of time.

• Right, my son/daughter has got me my computer with internet, what do I do now?

That’s great, you’re already halfway there. To start your download experience simply switch on your computer and wait for it to start up. After a while you maybe asked for a password. • Excellent, my computer is on and my password is entered, how do I get into the internet?

• So I’m on the internet now, wow, that didn’t take very long. How can I get to download the music I want?

Towards the top of the screen you will see a white bar running across from left to right. Click in here and by pressing the delete or back key. Get rid of the words up to the forward slashes. For example, what you should be left with is something that looks like this: http://

Now what you do is just type in the address for website you want to visit. To buy music we recommended in particular www.woolworths.co.uk or www.tescodownloads.co.uk, or, if you have an ipod www.itunes.co.uk  

Choose one of these addresses, or any other preference you may already have, and type it in after the forward slashes, you will then be redirected to that website.

• Fantastic, I’m on my website now, how do I buy my Red Hurley song?

Unfortunately every website has a slightly different layout but they all follow the same format.

First of all make sure you are in the music section of the website. If your using tesco downloads or i tunes then you will already be here. If you are using Woolworths then there is a tab ‘saying music and downloads’ on the top left hand side of the screen. Simply click on this.

Now, on whatever you site you are on there will be a white search box somewhere on the screen. In this type whatever it is you want to search for.

You will then be taken to a page which shows all of the products available by your chosen artist. Simply find what you want, make sure it’s the digital version (download) your on, and click buy.

• Wow, I have my song already. Is it now mine?

Not quite. You have to put your details first, things like your address and credit card details. But don’t worry all these sites are completely secure and confidential and they won’t share your details with anyone. It is completely safe to buy.

• So do I have my song now?

Almost. Once you’ve inputted all your details click on something like ‘confirm order’ and your download will be sent to your computer. Leave it a couple of minutes as it may take a while. Once it has download it should start playing automatically. The song is now yours forever. It is even possible to put the song onto a blank CD.

• I’m amazed, that really was quick and easy. But what if there’s a problem?
